The Enugu State Governor Peter Mba's announcement to cease sit-at-home protests in the state has received support from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In light of the fact that those implementing the injunction are criminals, IPOB declared it will support Mba's decision to stop the Monday sit-at-home.
Criminals are leveraging the sit-at-home order to wreak havoc in the Southeast, according to IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful.
Powerful said in a statement: "After our leadership ordered Monday's sit-at-home to call for the release of our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU, who is currently being held unlawfully at the DSS dungeon, he directed IPOB leadership to stop the sit-at-home to prevent criminals from taking advantage of that to harm our people.
"Although some Biafrans resumed their voluntary Monday sit-at-home as our leader had foretold, some criminals and infiltrators took advantage of the suspension order to perpetrate crimes and enforce a nonexistent Monday sit-at-home.
"It is apparent that Dr. Peter Mba, the governor of Enugu State, should be informed that IPOB has already canceled Monday's sit-at-home protest. It is offensive of him to publicly link IPOB with Monday nights spent at home.
"Because those enforcing the fictitious Monday sit-at-home are criminals, IPOB will back Governor Mba if he truly wants to restore normalcy on Mondays.
"Anyone enforcing the nonexistent Monday sit-at-home order is hurting IPOB and our leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU, according to someone who wants to punish our people. Every Biafran and member of IPOB should be present on Mondays for business.
"However, the governor must be aware that Nigeria Police is aware of the criminals and their hideouts who execute sit-at-home orders in some communities and who falsely identified themselves as members of IPOB. Peter Mba is advised to find out who is accountable for the crimes occurring in Enugu State and other states from his predecessor, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. In Enugu State, we mentioned a few offenders, and we'll do it again to Dr. Mba."
