Certificates of Return have been presented to those who won senatorial seats in Nigeria's February 25th elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The senatorial elections were conducted simultaneously with the presidential election two Saturdays ago across the states. The presentation of the certificates was done by the Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, at the National Collation Centre, which is the International Conference Centre located in Abuja.
In a statement on Saturday, the INEC boss announced that winners were declared for 423 legislative seats, with supplementary elections to be conducted in 46 other constituencies.
Of the elected legislators, 98 out of 109 Senate seats and 325 out of 360 House of Representatives seats were won by seven and eight parties, respectively.
The House of Representatives-elect is expected to receive their certificates at the same venue on Wednesday.
