The Deputy Director General, Media of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Olu Martins, said the party was ready and sure of victory as they enter the final phase of the state campaign today.
The campaign which will rock Ubiaja Township Stadium in Esan South East, Edo Central, Martins said the Peoples Democratic Party supporters and residents of Edo Central were ready to receive the campaign team.
He stated that the campaign would climax on September 14 when the PDP governors, national chairman and executives of the party were expected in Benin for a grand rally.
According to him, “The Thursday flag-off is at the Ubiaja Township Stadium and our people are enthusiastic. The spirit is also very high because all the polls conducted show that Asue Ighodalo of the PDP is in the lead.
“Feelers from the field show that our supporters and residents of Ubiaja and indeed the whole of Edo Central are ready to receive us.
“We will focus on the Oredo metropolis, Egor and Ikpoba Okha, which has the highest number of polling units, followed by Oredo and Egor. The governor is from Oredo, the Chief of Staff and the Chairman of the Oredo Local Government Area is PDP. We will ensure that votes count.
“We are home and dry in Ikpoba Okha, where our deputy governorship candidate is from. What we are looking at now is to protect our vote and ensure that the votes cast are counted and delivered safely to INEC office in Aduwawa where the vote will be counted and a winner declared.
“On September 14, the PDP governors, the national chairman and the executive will be on hand to give support to the Edo PDP and its candidate.”
The campaign will be led by the Director General of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Mathew Iduoriyekewen, while Asue Ighodalo, his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, are expected to tell the electorate what they stand to get electing them into power.
