Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Sweden and AC Milan has declared his retirement from football at the age of 41.
After the team's season-ending match against Hellas Verona on Sunday at the San Siro, the Swede made the declaration.
Ibrahimovic's contract with the Italian team is up this month, and he had already indicated he will leave.
He amassed 511 goals in his career and four league titles.
With 62 goals in 121 games, the striker also retires as Sweden's all-time leading scorer.
After Euro 2016, he left the national team, but he later joined them again in 2021 for their disastrous World Cup qualification campaign.
The Swede told the crowd at the San Siro, "I say goodbye to football but not to you."
