Chidi Odinkalu, a former head of the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, stated that he had no compassion for Godwin Emefiele, the Central Bank of Nigeria's suspended governor, who is now being questioned by the Department of State Services over his tenure in office.
In an interview with Channels Television, Odinkalu asserted that crimes were committed when Emefiele was in government.
The international human rights law professor remarked;
"I don't feel sorry for Godwin Emefiele. I've previously made clear what I think of him as CBN governor. Sincerely, I think that the events that took place when he was the governor of the CBN were criminal.
"Whatever happens to him during the judicial procedure, I won't cry for him. I am not sure if he would cry for himself."
