'I Don’t Respond To Social Media Talks' - Tinubu

POSTED ON May 4, 2023 •   Uncategorized      BY Akinbohun Samuel •   VIEWS 85

Bola Tinubu, the incoming president, has challenged his detractors on social media to keep saying anything they want on different online platforms because it is a free-speech society.

Insisting that he could not commit to anything until he was sworn in as President, Tinubu informed Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike that he would not cover the cost of the flyovers he built in Rivers.

On Wednesday night, Tinubu reviewed what he dubbed the banter with Wike at a banquet held in his honor. He noted that it had sparked a lot of discussion on social media.

However, the former governor of Lagos State claimed that he has been called every name under the sun on social media and that he doesn't respond to them.

Why can't he make payment for the flyover?

He said: "If you take me seriously, (it's up to you) I had a banter with Gov. Wike. I am, in fact, the incoming president. I cannot sign anything until I've been sworn in. What steps must I take to commit? I am currently unable to sign any expenditure or payment for Nigeria. One president can only be in office at once.

"I believe in keeping my word, which is why I'm here, but if you ask me to leave and commit to things that are merely expectations and cannot be kept, I won't. And we must act on behalf of Nigeria. I want to thank everyone for their support during the election, but I'm still counting down.

"I can't pay if I commit to signing anything for you right away. How can I make a payment for that flyover, please? That is not practical.

Social Media Dragging

"I hope that allayed your anxieties about social media. I don't reply to conversations on social media. They have called me on every social media platform they can think of. There is free speech everywhere in the world."
