Heartland Queens head coach Obi Ogbala has announced that the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) team will be bringing in new players to strengthen the squad for the upcoming second half of the season.
The team concluded the first half of the current 2024/25 NWFL Premiership season on a high note, securing a 3-0 win against Confluence Queens during the matchday seven encounter held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
“We need to bring in new players to make the team more competitive. We have pinpointed the types of players we require and we are optimistic about acquiring them for the second half of the season,” he stated.
Ogbala expressed his satisfaction with achieving three points, marking the team’s first victory of the season.
The home team took the lead just two minutes into the match and added two more goals, leaving the visitors from Confluence Queens empty-handed on their way out of Owerri.
Ogbala mentioned that he inspired his players to excel, noting that the support from fans also contributed to the team's performance.
“This victory serves as a morale booster and will motivate us to improve our performance in the second half,” he said.
