Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has commissioned a set of infrastructures, including fire trucks, ambulances, and SUV vehicles for the legislative and judiciary arms of the state government, as well as other institutions. The commissioning ceremony took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja on Friday.
Governor Bello emphasized that the provision of these medical and safety infrastructures, along with vehicles for the legislative and judiciary arms, is a fulfillment of the promises made to the people of Kogi State. He highlighted the ambulances, designated for all local government areas, as equipped mobile operation theaters and hospitals with state-of-the-art facilities.
The governor underscored the significance of the vehicles allocated to the legislature and judiciary, emphasizing their role in fostering a harmonious relationship between all arms of the government and enhancing their performance under favorable conditions of mobility.
In addition to the medical and safety facilities, Governor Bello highlighted the importance of the fire trucks as crucial safety infrastructures that would expedite emergency responses during fire outbreaks and other disasters.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the state for the privilege to serve, Governor Bello assured them that his successor and Governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, would continue to prioritize the welfare and development of the state.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, RT. Hon Aliu Umar Yusuf, commended the governor for demonstrating unwavering commitment to the welfare of the judiciary and legislative arms. He acknowledged the distribution of utilities as part of the comprehensive welfare program implemented by the governor.
Dr. Usman Zakeri, the state commissioner for health, highlighted the governor's commitment to healthcare. He noted that Governor Bello's administration had employed over 3,000 healthcare professionals, rehabilitated zonal hospitals, and initiated the construction of new hospitals. The commissioner emphasized the impact of the medical facilities in facilitating emergency medical services, preventing maternal deaths, and ensuring efficient healthcare service delivery.
Chief Judge of Kogi State Justice J. J Majebi praised the governor for being a friend of the judiciary and facilitating a conducive environment for the judiciary to thrive. He appreciated Governor Bello's commitment to a fair and impartial judicial system, acknowledging the governor's concern for the well-being of the judiciary.
