Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has taken decisive action by instructing the state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, and Health Commissioner, Prof Augustine Umo, to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter in response to the alarming incident involving the attempted murder of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member.
The targeted NYSC member, who was stationed at St. Theresa Hospital in Use Abat, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, fell victim to an attack on January 2, 2023. An unidentified assailant forcibly entered her residence and demanded a money transfer to his account.
Reports indicate that the attacker abruptly left the scene upon realizing that assistance was imminent, prompted by the intervention of patients in the hospital who knocked on the victim's door.
Governor Umo Eno, through a statement released by his Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong, titled "Governor Eno Orders Immediate Investigation into Attempted Murder at Use Abat, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area," conveyed his deep concern. The statement emphasized the governor's commitment to the safety and security of citizens and residents in the state.
The directive from Governor Umo Eno instructs the Commissioner of Police and the Health Commissioner to swiftly investigate the incident and provide a comprehensive briefing to the governor upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
