KADUNA- (NAN) The Kaduna State governor , Uba Sani announced that it is gratifying to reopen the Kidandan market in Giwa LGA, which was abandoned for several years due to recurring insecurity.
The governor said the reopening of the market marks the beginning of a restoration of peace and stability in the local government.
On November 29, Sani reopened the renowned and strategically vital Birnin Gwari livestock market, which had been closed for almost ten years, signaling the return of commercial activities.
During his address at Kidandan village, the governor stated, “Peace is a priceless asset. It is crucial for progress and development. While conflict leads to destruction, peace fosters growth.
I am delighted that following the significant milestone in Birnin Gwari, Giwa has also taken steps in this direction. Truly, peace is the only way forward.”
He assured the public that the government would fulfill its promises, noting that the ‘Peace Dialogue Group’ is actively working to ensure that agreements are respected and this newfound understanding is sustained.
Sani also mentioned, “The security agencies are in sync with the state government, assuring that those who have opted to lay down their arms will be safeguarded and rehabilitated.”
He highlighted that the reopening of the Kidandan market would revitalize the local economy and create substantial opportunities for the area's residents.
Sani called on the community to unite, saying, “We are one people. Despite our differences, there are peaceful ways to address our challenges.
“Let us all reject violence and conflict. Together, we can create a prosperous future for Giwa local government.”
