Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, asserted on Tuesday during the 2024 state inter-denominational prayer that his predecessor had intentionally set up obstacles for him, expecting his failure. Speaking at the event held at the governor's office parking lots to usher in the New Year, Adeleke expressed his joy at freeing the state from the political entanglements left by the previous All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations.
Adeleke disclosed, "My predecessor deliberately added petrol to the fire by laying several booby traps before he left office. Nobody expects solutions from us. The thoughts of detractors were the expectation of failure."
Reflecting on the challenges faced upon assuming office over a year ago, the governor highlighted the turbulent period when the state's problems seemed insurmountable. He credited divine intervention and the prayers of the people for the positive turnaround.
"In those turbulent days, we had sought the Lord’s help to calm the troubled water of state governance. Today, I am overjoyed to stand before you to proclaim that our state is free from the bondage of the past," Adeleke declared.
The governor further shared personal revelations, stating that God not only answered his prayers but also guided his decision-making on policy issues. He emphasized the divine nature of his leadership and credited it for successful policy innovations and the reset of the state public service.
"My dear people of faith, I have personal confessions to make. In the last one year, I directly experienced divine guidance in making state decisions. We have a God who does not fail his beloved ones," Adeleke affirmed.
The governor highlighted achievements such as addressing workers' welfare, bringing smiles to pensioners, restoring local governance, implementing infra-agenda, and setting the tone for sustainable governance. He concluded by expressing gratitude for the divine support that propelled his administration's positive trajectory.
