Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, expressed his gratitude to the practicing journalists in the state for maintaining a strong relationship with his administration since its inception.
In a solidarity message conveyed on Friday and made available to the press by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno also acknowledged the media's ability to bring important public issues to the attention of his administration.
He joined leaders worldwide in celebrating journalists on the 2024 World Press Freedom Day and thanked the media for the positive relationship they have maintained since his inauguration almost a year ago.
"You have embraced our ARISE vision and have demonstrated your faith and belief in your reporting.
We value constructive criticism and your ability to bring attention to issues that serve the public good, which is a fundamental responsibility of your esteemed profession.
We will continue to collaborate with you as we inspire our community to rise and shine, driven by the uplifting principles of unity, solidarity, and the pursuit of noble ideals.
We fully support the Sub-Theme of this year's event "Navigating Press Freedom Through Unity in Cultural Diversity."
This is why we advocate for bipartisan cooperation in our interactions. Once again, I extend my best wishes to all of you on this World Press Freedom Day in 2024."
