Gianpiero Gasperini stated that Ademola Lookman has significantly contributed to Atalanta's success following his impressive goal in the team's 4-0 victory over Juventus on Sunday.
Lookman netted a goal during Atalanta's commanding performance against the Bianconeri at the Allianz Arena.
The victory kept Atalanta firmly in contention for the title. Lookman was substituted in the 80th minute and shared a hug with Gasperini on the sidelines.
The player and coach had previously exchanged words after Lookman missed a penalty against Club Brugge.
“When a group spends 300 days together in a year, it’s natural for people to have different opinions,” Gasperini remarked in a post-match press conference (as reported by Football Italia).
“Lookman transformed into a remarkable player once he enhanced his understanding of the team. He previously took a more individualistic approach. While he wasn't a bad individual, his focus was primarily on himself.
“He has made Atalanta great, and in turn, Atalanta has made him great. I truly believe he could become the captain before the season concludes.”
