Fred Keen on Move to Turkey
According to reports, the transfer of Manchester United midfielder Fred to Turkish giants Galatasaray is getting close to completion.
Inside sources reveal that the two teams' negotiations, which have been ongoing for the past few weeks, are getting closer to a conclusion. A transfer fee of approximately £20 million is currently being negotiated for Fred's transfer to Turkey.
Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos, better known as Fred, has not been in high demand at Old Trafford in recent months, and Erik ten Hag, the club's new manager, views him as an unnecessary expense.
Fred has scored 6 goals in the 2023 season so far. He has scored 2 goals in the Premier League, 1 goal in the Europa League, 2 goals in the FA Cup, and 1 goal in the EFL Cup.
Galatasaray's Gain on Fred
Galatasaray are attempting to strengthen their midfield for the upcoming season, and signing Fred would be a tremendous achievement for the club. The 30-year-old is a versatile player who can play in a variety of positions, and Galatasaray would tremendously benefit from his much-needed experience if he were to join the team.
Even though the transfer has not yet been formalized, it is expected that this will occur in the coming days.
While Galatasaray focuses on landing Fred, several rival suitors have emerged hoping to disrupt the negotiations. Names such as Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers have expressed interest in acquiring the dynamic midfielder.
If successful, bringing Fred to Istanbul would represent a massive coup for Galatasaray. His skillset and experience would significantly bolster the team's midfield, providing a much-needed creative spark and physicality in the heart of the pitch. Moreover, adding a Brazilian international to the roster would not only enhance the club's global appeal but also signal its ambition to contend at the highest levels.
Also, if all proceeds according to plan, Fred will become Galatasaray's second new player of the summer, following in the footsteps of Brazilian striker Luiz Adriano, who was brought in this month.
