Similanayi Fubara, a candidate for governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been proclaimed the winner of the Rivers State governorship election.
Fubara received 302,614 votes, according to the Returning Officer, who announced the outcome in Port Harcourt on Monday night. Pastor Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 95,274 votes, placing him in second place.
The current governor, Nyesom Wike, chose Fubara as his candidacy.
