The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that 12 individuals lost their lives and five others were injured in a single-vehicle accident in Kano.
The state FRSC Sector Commander, Muhammed Bature, stated that the incident took place around 2:40 a.m. on Friday at Samawa Village, located in the Garun Malam Local Government Area, along the Zaria–Kano highway.
Bature mentioned in a statement that the accident involved a DAF CF95 truck, registered as KMC 931 ZE, which was carrying goods.
He noted that a total of 19 people were involved, with 12 fatalities, five injuries, and two individuals unharmed.
The sector commander explained that the accident occurred when the truck lost control and crashed due to its cab detaching from the body as a result of a mechanical failure in the truck's cab hook.
He added, “The deceased were taken to Nasarawa Hospital, while those injured were transported to Kura General Hospital for treatment.”
The sector commander advised drivers to be cautious, warning against speeding, reckless driving, and other unsafe behaviors that could jeopardize lives and property.
