The Osun State Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, has reported the recovery of a vehicle and several electronic devices that were stolen by a group of armed robbers from a hotel in Ode Omu, a town within the state.
Idowu Abbas, the spokesperson for the Amotekun Corps, stated on Tuesday that the stolen vehicle and items were found in Ogere town, Ogun State.
Abbas mentioned that the operatives from Amotekun were involved in a gunfire exchange with the robbers before retrieving the vehicle, with assistance from the Federal Road Safety Corps.
He detailed that the robbery took place in the early hours of last Saturday when armed robbers invaded a hotel in Ode-Omu, where victims from Lagos were staying overnight for a funeral.
During the attack, the thieves made off with a Toyota Matrix worth around N7 million and six LG 42-inch televisions valued at over N3 million.
The victims quickly informed the Amotekun Corps Command in Ayedaade Local Government, Gbongan. Promptly, operatives from both local and state commands initiated a coordinated tracking operation.
The intense response from the Amotekun operatives caused the robbers to flee to Ogere in Ogun State, where they discarded the stolen vehicle in a nearby bush along with other items. Some suspects are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Corps Commander Adekunle Omoyele praised the bravery and accuracy of the operatives, stating, "This operation's success demonstrates Amotekun's dedication to protecting the lives and property of Osun State citizens."
He also expressed gratitude towards the FRSC Ogere Command for their collaboration in this achievement.
The recovered items were returned to Osogbo and formally given back to their owners on Monday by the Corps’ Operations Commander, Olagunju Joseph, at the Amotekun Headquarters Operation Base.
