French Sports Minister Urges Psg To Take Action Against Homophobic Chants

France's Sports Minister, Amelie Oudea Castera, has called on Paris St Germain (PSG) to make a formal legal complaint against their fans responsible for homophobic chants during the recent Ligue 1 match against Olympique de Marseille. The incident occurred during PSG's 4-0 victory over Marseille at the Parc des Princes over the weekend, with homophobic chants originating from the Boulogne kop section of PSG supporters. Many in the home crowd were seen clapping along with these chants. In response to the incident, Minister Oudea Castera expressed her strong condemnation, stating, "It is unthinkable to remain deaf to such hateful and homophobic chants in our stands. Yesterday, these chants spoiled the party at the Parc. They must be eradicated from our stadiums as a matter of urgency. I made sure last night that a firm response was forthcoming. I invite PSG to lodge a complaint to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice so that they can be removed from the stadiums." The matter has now been handed over to the French soccer governing body LFP for further investigation and action. In a statement, PSG, the French champions, expressed their commitment to addressing the issue of homophobia. They stated that the club intends to intensify its efforts in the fight against homophobia and will be collaborating with their partners to address this critical concern in the coming days. PSG's upcoming match is against Clermont on Saturday, where they hope to maintain their focus on the field while actively addressing the issue of homophobic chants in their fanbase.
