Many Nigerian football enthusiasts are currently focused on the Remo Stars Sports Institute located in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, where 26 members of the Super Eagles B team will begin their preparations for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) today.
This is a closed-camping initiative that allows the players and their coaching staff to fully concentrate.
The Super Eagles B earned their place in the tournament by achieving a historic qualification, defeating Ghana’s Black Galaxies for the first time in this series.
Following a goalless first leg in Accra, Nigeria secured their spot with a decisive 3-1 win in Uyo last week.
This year's CHAN will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda from February 1 to 28. The tournament will provide an opportunity for the three countries to demonstrate their facilities and operational capabilities in preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which they are also set to co-host.
The 2025 CHAN tournament will include 18 teams, featuring the three host nations along with Nigeria, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Niger Republic, Congo, Sudan, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar.
After a six-year absence, the Super Eagles team B, led by Coach Daniel Ogunmodede, are determined to make a significant impact this time around.
Notable players on the roster released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) include team captain Nduka Harrison Junior, goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, defenders Sadiq Ismail and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, midfielder Saviour Isaac, and forward Sikiru Alimi.
Additional invitees consist of goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, defenders Imo Obot and Stephen Manyo, midfielders Musa Zayyad, Rabiu Ali, and Papa Daniel Mustapha, as well as forwards Adamu Abubakar and Emmanuel Ogbole.
