Former President Donald Trump was arrested and booked on Thursday evening with his jail mugshot made public.
The former Republic candidate was charged with felony charges in connection with his efforts to overturn Georgia's 2020 presidential election results.
Although he turned himself over, Trump was arrested at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta and was released on a $200,000 bond. He is one of 19 people facing racketeering charges in Georgia for allegedly scheming to overturn the election results.
Trump's arrest came just hours after the first Republican presidential primary debate, which he skipped. His rivals, who did participate in the debate, largely avoided attacking Trump in his absence.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has called the charges against him "bogus." He is expected to plead not guilty.
The arrest is a major development in the ongoing investigation into Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. It is the first time that a former U.S. president has been arrested on criminal charges.
The contrast between Trump's world and that of the other GOP candidates on Thursday couldn't have been starker.
Many of them were off the trail after their big night, while Trump's closest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, was at the Field of Dreams in Iowa throwing softballs and listening to "Sweet Caroline."
It remains to be seen how Trump's arrest will affect the 2024 Republican presidential primary. However, it is clear that the former president remains a major force in American politics.
