Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady and former senator, has refuted claims that she ordered the closure of the AsoRock Chapel.
The First Lady was reacting an to allegation made by a Twitter user (@VeronicaaNaomi), Mrs Tinubu clarified that the chapel remains open and continues to hold weekly fellowship.
@VeronicaaNaomi had accused the First Lady of closing the chapel, alleging that her decision was motivated by individuals who did not support her husband, President Bola Tinubu, during the February 2023 presidential election.
However, a statement released by Mrs Tinubu's newly appointed Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, dismissed these claims as false.
According to the statement, "We wish to state categorically that this is a fabrication and totally false representation of the true situation, as the First Lady at no time gave such directive that the Chapel be shut and the keys handed over to Her Excellency. Presently there are weekly fellowships going on at the Chapel."
The statement further revealed that the President is yet to appoint a new Chaplain for the chapel following the departure of the previous Chaplain, as the appointment solely rests with the President.
In light of these clarifications, it is evident that the reports circulating on social media regarding the closure of the AsoRock Chapel by Mrs Oluremi Tinubu are unfounded. The chapel remains open and continues to provide a place of worship for those who attend the weekly fellowships.
