Cristiano Ronaldo's club Al Nassr have been banned from registering new players by FIFA for failing to pay Leicester City the money they owe them over the transfer of Ahmed Musa.
Musa joined Al Nassr in 2018 for a fee of €16.5 million, but the Saudi club have yet to pay the add-ons that were due to Leicester. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ordered Al Nassr to pay €460,000 in performance-related add-ons, but the club have failed to comply with the ruling.
As a result, FIFA has banned Al Nassr from registering new players until they have paid the outstanding amount. The ban will come into effect on July 18, 2023, and will remain in place until the debt is settled.
The ban is a major blow to Al Nassr, who are hoping to challenge for the Saudi Professional League title this season. The club also have Ronaldo on their books, and the Portuguese superstar will be hoping that the ban is lifted as soon as possible.
