ABUJA, Nigeria - The federal government has revealed plans to recapitalize the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to improve food security and make food more affordable and accessible for Nigerians.
The minister of state for agriculture and food security, Aliyu Abdullahi, shared this information during a visit from the Emir of Borgu Kingdom, Muhammad Dantoro, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Abdullahi highlighted that the government is working on reforming the Bank of Agriculture to better assist Nigerians.
“We are reforming the Bank of Agriculture to serve Nigerians. We are recapitalizing the Bank of Agriculture to ensure food is accessible and affordable for Nigerians. We must continue to produce food for our people,” he expressed.
The minister thanked the emir for his visit and prayers, wishing him success in his role.
He also assured that efforts are being made to enhance the development of various cluster farms in Borgu Kingdom.
Furthermore, he promised to faithfully represent the people of Borgu with integrity in his responsibilities.
Earlier, the emir voiced his support, indicating that the visit was to demonstrate solidarity and offer prayers for the minister’s success.
“We are here to physically show our support for the minister so that everyone working with him will know they have our prayers,” he stated.
Dantoro also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing a son of Borgu as minister of agriculture at a vital time, stating, “agriculture has become extremely important in Nigeria.”
