The Federal Government has made a budget of N837billion for the rehabilitation and construction of roads and highways across the country in the 2024 budget proposal
In 2024, the government has allotted N548.56b for the construction of roads, with N2bn and N3.75bn going to the Benin-Akure and East-West roads, respectively. This, however, is not the same as the N288.44 billion set aside in the 2023 supplemental budget for the modernization of 329 roads and bridges.

The Ministry of Works' road projects also included a N1.05 billion budget for clearing overgrown vegetation off of certain federal roadways. A review of the 2024 budget, dubbed the "Budget of Renewed Hope," revealed that the ministry had set aside N3.19 billion to buy 50 cars.
The reconstruction of the Ikot Ekpene border Aba-Owerri dual road, which will cost N1 billion, and the rehabilitation of the Kabba-Ayere-Isua-Ipele road in Kogi and Ondo states are two of the road projects that will be built. Additionally, N1 billion will be spent on dualizing the Lagos–Otta road, while N8.2 billion has been set aside to fund the 9th mile Enugu–Makurdi road and the Lafia bypass.
Along with the expansion of the Abuja-Keffi carriageway, which would have cost N10.7 billion, the budget also included N6 billion for the rehabilitation of three sections of the Lokoja-Abuja road and N3.03 billion for the construction of culverts and drainage in flood-prone areas on federal roads in the South-East zone.
A further N2.6 billion was allocated in the South-South zone for culvert drainage and flood-prone areas on the federal road network in four locations in Rivers State; another N1.5 billion was set aside for the rehabilitation of the Odukpani-Itu-Ikot Ekpene road and section I of the Odukpani-Itu Bridgehead in Cross River State.
