The Federal Government has restated her commitment to pensioners’ welfare in the face of ongoing economic reforms.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, gave the assurance on Wednesday during a working visit to the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, according to a statement issued by Director ( information) Mallam Mohammed Manga.
The visit, the statement said, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to improving pension management and enhancing the welfare of pensioners.
The Minister commended PTAD staff for their dedication in pension administration, recognizing their indispensable role.
Minister Edun reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to pensioners’ welfare despite essential economic reforms.
He assured of ongoing Ministry of Finance support for the recent pension increment, aligning with the provisions of section 173:3 of the 1999 constitution.
” Notably, this marks a historic initiative in Nigerian pension management with deliberate and timely increments as well as a commitment to the timely payment of pension arrears and entitlements emphasizing the government’s commitment to the well-being of pensioners,” he added.
