Ahead of the first anniversary of his administration on May 29, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Lagos to commence a series of project inaugurations.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced this in a press statement on Saturday.
On Sunday, the President is set to inaugurate the concrete-paved road leading to the nation’s major ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island.
This reconstructed road project initially started under the Muhammadu Buhari Administration, was financed by the Dangote Group through its tax credits.
In addition to this, President Tinubu will virtually inaugurate the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge, which has received widespread public praise for its quality finishing and aesthetic appeal.
He will also commission the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across the country via virtual means.
The highlight of the President’s engagements on Sunday will be the inauguration of the Lagos-Calabar Superhighway, an iconic project estimated to cost around N15 trillion.
This legacy project, aimed at connecting nine coastal states, has seen Section Two awarded to Hitech Construction Limited.
Following his activities in Lagos, President Tinubu will return to Abuja on Tuesday to commence another round of project inaugurations. He will first inaugurate the Southern Parkway, named after him by the Nyesom Wike-led FCT Administration.
On Wednesday, the President is scheduled to attend the National Assembly Dialogue Series and subsequently unveil the National Assembly Library Complex, also named in his honour.
Following this, he will relaunch the Abuja Light Rail, also known as Abuja Metro, by symbolically joining a train ride to the city centre.
The Abuja Metro, completed in 2018, had been out of service due to the COVID-19 pandemic and vandalism but has now been refurbished for commercial use.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has overseen the $15 million refurbishment of the Abuja Metro, including building access roads to various stations and preparing it for commercial service.
After the train ride, President Tinubu will also inaugurate the Wuye Flyover-Link Bridge and the Defence Intelligence Agency Headquarters.
Concluding his week of engagements, on Friday, May 31, President Tinubu will commission the NASENI-Portland Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Reverse Engineering Centre at Utako, Abuja.
