The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has officially launched the sale of E-tags, granting access to all 24 Federal airports in Nigeria. The sale is scheduled to begin today, May 17.
This announcement was made by FAAN through its official communication channel, on Friday.
According to reports, the approval of 21 policies and projects during the FEC meetings on Monday and Tuesday was aimed at enhancing the economy, encouraging investments, and improving the business environment in the country.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a policy mandating that all individuals using federal airports nationwide must pay tolls at the gates, without any exceptions, including the President and Vice President.
The sale of E-tags, as announced by FAAN, is in line with a presidential directive from the latest FEC meeting, which requires all airport users to pay tolls at the gates.
This is coming amidst hardship occasioned by the removal of subsidies and the floating of the naira.
The Nigeria Labour Congress has been compelled by the current hardships to demand an increase in the minimum wage, causing unease within the government.
FAAN's statement mentioned that drivers without E-tags can choose to pay cash at the access gates before entering the airport, with defaulting drivers being denied entry.
The statement also included the locations and contact details for obtaining E-tags at the international airports in Lagos and Abuja.
The announcement stated, "At Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, E-tags can be obtained at the Office of the Head of Department of Commercial Operations, Terminal 1, 5th floor.
"At Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, E-tags can be obtained at the HOD Commercial Office at the General Aviation Terminal."
