The Federal Government of Nigeria has praised the smartcard manufacturing company SecureID Limited for its sustainable contributions to the country’s digitisation drive.
According to a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, said this during a recent visit to SecureID Limited’s corporate headquarters.
Edun lauded SecureID’s forward-thinking approach and exemplary achievements.
"SecureID, a smartcard manufacturing company, has been working with MasterCard, VISA, Verve GSMA/SAS, and CQM certifications to manufacture different types of high-security cards in Nigeria.
“You are creating a vibrant and forward-looking organisation that has not only achieved a lot but has laid the basis for doing a lot more, sustainably and in an exemplary manner. A strong brand is evolving.” He said
According to the firm, the visit aimed to familiarise the minister with SecureID Limited’s world-class capabilities, including global certifications and cutting-edge smartcard production machinery.
Edun also praised SecureID and its subsidiaries for their significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy, emphasising their potential to generate employment opportunities and enhance service delivery.
He pledged government support for indigenous companies investing in local alternatives and substituting foreign services.
The Group Managing Director of SecureID, Kofo Akinkugbe, expressed optimism about future collaborations with the government and highlighted the potential positive impact on Nigeria’s digital landscape.
He underscored SecureID Limited’s role in economic growth through local production and export initiatives across 21 African countries.
