Tuesday, another group of 112 Nigerians who were stuck in Libya were evacuated by the Federal Government.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Amb. Kabiru Musa, Charge D'Affaires En Titre of the Nigerian Mission to Libya, made this disclosure.
The federal government is working to return Nigerians who are stuck overseas, according to Musa, who said the evacuation action was a part of that effort.
He said the International Organization for Migration (IOM) worked with him to carry out the operation.
The returnees, according to him, are anticipated to touch down in Lagos on Tuesday night at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
"The Federal Government, via its mission in Libya, enabled the evacuation of another group of 112 trapped Nigerians from Tripoli.
"There are 47 women, six children, four newborns, and 55 males among the evacuees.
"They departed the Mitiga International Airport, Tripoli aboard chartered flight No. UZ01890 at 13.30 local time and are expected to arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on the same day," the envoy stated.
The sixth exercise this year, according to Musa, saw roughly 5,000 Nigerians successfully evacuated from Libya.
"This is a voluntary activity, and the government will continue to uphold its duty to ensure that its citizens return home safely as long as they are willing to do so.
"We appreciate the IOM and the Libyan authorities for their support," he said.
