The Third Mainland Bridge's Adekunle ramps are undergoing extensive renovation, and the Federal Government is advising drivers to take alternate routes to avoid traffic jams. The work is set to start today.
The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Engr. Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, spoke to reporters on the 11.8-kilometer Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos and announced that the repairs would start today. She also mentioned that the Adekunle exit ramp would be closed to traffic starting at 9:00 a.m. for the two-week rehabilitation, after which work would shift to other areas.
Kesha said: “We are here to sensitize Lagosians on the forthcoming closure of Third Mainland Bridge on Monday, November 6. What that means is that if you are coming from Iyana Oworo, you can go straight. And if you are heading for Lagos Island, the road is still free for you; that bridge is still free for you.
“You can use it straight to the island, but peradventure, if you are going to Adekunle, you will not be able to do that if you are coming from Iyana Oworo.”
The controller announced that drivers entering Lagos Island through the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Toll Gate, or Ogudu axis would not be able to reach Adekunle/Ebute-Metta via the Third Mainland Bridge.
