Festus Keyamo, the Nigerian Minister of state for Labour and Employment, purchased a property worth over $359,000 in Texas, United States. The property is located at 5509 Silver Canyon LN TX 77583 in Savannah Trace.
The document claims that there is no proof of income that would support the purchase. A few years after becoming a minister, Keyamo, who had previously worked as a prosecutor for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), purchased the house.
Given his brief term as a minister, a source questioned how he could afford such a home. Keyamo has handled multiple corruption investigations for the EFCC and served as a spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council.
In 2016, he resigned from his position as the lead prosecutor in a corruption case against former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva, citing new developments that would make it more difficult for him to successfully prosecute the case.
Keyamo requested in a letter to the ICPC, EFCC, and CCB in January 2023 that they detain, question, and file charges against PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for allegedly embezzling public funds.
Additionally, he filed a lawsuit against the CCB, ICPC, and EFCC, requesting a mandatory order ordering them to look into Atiku's bank accounts and other businesses he allegedly utilized to steal public funds between 1999 and 2007 when he was Vice President of Nigeria.
