Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina dismissed claims that ex-President Muhammadu Buhari is a bigot or nepotist, asserting that those making such allegations are not acquainted with the real Buhari.
Adesina made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, following the launch of his book, 'Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023).' The book launch was attended by Buhari, President Bola Tinubu, ex-Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and other dignitaries.
Explaining the motivation behind the book, Adesina emphasized the need to provide a true understanding of Buhari beyond varied perspectives and narratives. Adesina portrayed Buhari as a patriotic and fair-minded individual who holds deep love for Nigeria.
He refuted allegations of nepotism and bigotry, citing examples of Buhari's respect for diverse religions, including attending a Christian program in Lagos after being personally invited when he was not yet the President.
In a dedicated section of the book, Adesina highlighted instances that contradicted claims of religious bias, stressing that a true bigot would not enter a worship house of a different religion. Adesina firmly asserted, "A bigot will never enter a worship house that is not his own religion. And they say he is a nepotist, I have never seen it."
