The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has advised property developers to thoroughly investigate the land they intend to purchase before acquisition.
The call comes after a recent demolition exercise in Gosa District to reclaim over 100 hectares of land that had been illegally fenced off by encroachers.
The Director of the Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, stressed the importance of collaboration with anti-corruption agencies like EFCC, ICPC, and the Nigerian police to apprehend those involved in illegal land-grabbing activities.
Galadima urged prospective buyers to verify land allocations with government agencies such as the Department of Lands Administration, Development Control, and Urban and Regional Planning to ensure transparency.
Efforts are also being made to monitor the environment regularly in Gosa District, as outlined by the Urban and Regional Planning Department.
The Secretary of Command and Control at FCTA, Dr. Peter Olumuji, condemned the criminal activities of land grabbers, including falsifying documents and confronting authorities violently.
The CEO of Ivory Shelters Nigerian Limited, Hamza Adamu, confirmed the legitimate allocation of the land for a mixed-use development project, assuring ongoing infrastructure development, security measures, affordability, and client protection.
Adamu denounced illegal occupants as land grabbers and guaranteed the safety of buyers within the allocated land, stating that the project aims to create a low-cost estate accessible to all, with a projected completion timeline of five years.
