ABUJA- The FCT Police Command recovered a grey Toyota Corolla with the registration number KWL 738 BB during a regular early morning patrol along Apo Dutse Road in Abuja.
The operation, performed by the Command's Scorpion Squad and directed by ASP Momoh, began at 5:00 a.m.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Command's spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, officers on patrol spotted the vehicle being driven by a lone occupant who demonstrated suspicious activity.
"When flagged down by the operatives, the individual abandoned the car and fled into a nearby bush," Adeh told me.
The statement partly read: “While on patrol, the officers noticed the vehicle with a single occupant who appeared nervous and fidgety at the wheel. Acting on their instincts, the officers flagged the vehicle down. In a swift turn of events, the occupant abandoned the car and fled into a nearby bush upon being signaled to stop.
“An analysis of the vehicle’s documents enabled the operatives to identify and contact the owner, Mr Kaseem Mustapha, who was fast asleep at home at the time of the incident. Upon waking and hearing about the situation, Mr Mustapha rushed out to find that his car had indeed been taken from where it was parked.
“The recovery of the vehicle brought immense relief to Mr Mustapha, who expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the officers for their prompt and diligent work as further investigation into the incident commenced.”
