ABUJA- The Federal Capital Territory's Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, made an operational tour of important Abuja leisure hubs on Thursday to maintain public safety throughout the holiday season.
Popular locations that usually draw sizable people during the holidays, such as Millennium Park, Jabi Park, Lugbe Shoprite, and Magic Land Amusement Park, were included in the inspection visit.
The visit was intended to evaluate the deployment of security personnel and make sure that strategic measures were in place to protect residents and tourists, according to a statement released by Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Command.
Speaking during the tour, CP Disu highlighted the importance of visible policing during the festive season to deter criminal activities and foster a sense of safety among the public.
“We are committed to creating a secure environment for everyone to enjoy the festive period without fear. These deployments are designed to ensure that all citizens feel safe while celebrating with their loved ones,” Disu was quoted as saying.
Adeh further said that the Commissioner interacted with officers stationed at the places, commending their efforts and encouraging them to stay vigilant and professional in their responsibilities.
Residents visiting the centers expressed appreciation for the conspicuous police presence, stating that it gave reassurance during the busy season.
The FCT Police Command also advised individuals to report any suspicious activities through its emergency hotlines, underlining the significance of community collaboration in safeguarding public safety.
