The family of late adored veteran actor John Okafor, often known as Mr Ibu, has outraged many as they seek funds for his burial.
Last month, the actor's family revealed that a five-day funeral celebration will be held for him, with burial scheduled for June 28, 2024. In an update, the central planning committee, which included his family and friends, asked the public for donations to ensure a successful funeral for him.
A statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Monday Diamond; Secretary, Central Planning Committee, Christy Ejiofor; and the President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas; stated that the ailment which led to the actor’s death consumed millions of naira, which was why they were asking for financial assistance.
As such, the family has launched a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs for the actor.
The news has left many angered as they noted how millions were contributed for him during his illness and yet his family fought over it for their personal gain.
