Fake Commissioner Of Police Arrested In Lagos

POSTED ON November 8, 2023 •   Uncategorized      BY Segun Adewole •   VIEWS 51
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended an individual posing as a Police Commissioner. The arrest was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, during a press briefing on Monday, September 11, where he detailed recent accomplishments by the law enforcement agency. The suspect, identified only as Emmanuel, was taken into custody on September 2 at approximately 4:40 p.m. when he visited a police establishment in the Ikorodu area, introducing himself as a Commissioner of Police. Initially, he was received with due reverence as such, but upon further questioning, his true identity as an impersonator came to light. Upon searching his residence, authorities discovered incriminating evidence, including a Deputy Commissioner of Police warrant card, an Assistant Commissioner of Police warrant card, a Kenwood walkie-talkie, a police camouflage singlet, and a face cap. In a related development, another impersonator was apprehended on September 4 following a complaint lodged by the Nigeria Bar Association, Epe Area of Lagos. The individual, identified as Ibrahim Bello, had allegedly been impersonating a lawyer and appearing at the Epe Magistrate Courts for several years. Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command apprehended Bello dressed in full lawyer's regalia during a court appearance where he was purportedly representing a client. Subsequent investigations revealed that he was, in fact, an impersonator. Among the items seized from Bello was a portrait bearing the inscription "Bello Law Firm Office," highlighting the audacious extent of his deception and false legal representation. The impersonator's activities have raised concerns about the potential impact on the justice system and the need for enhanced security measures to prevent such impersonations in the future.
