After an outstanding debut season at Manchester City, Erling Haaland has been voted the English Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year.
The Norwegian striker has led City to the brink of becoming the first team to win the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup with a stunning 51 goals in 47 matches across all competitions.
Haaland, who received 82% of the vote, joins Raheem Sterling and Ruben Dias as the third Manchester City player to receive the accolade in the last five years.
Sam Kerr, a standout for Chelsea who scored an incredible 27 goals for the Blues this season, took home the FWA Women's Footballer of the Year title.
Following in the footsteps of her Chelsea teammate Fran Kirby, who also won the prize twice in 2017–18 and 2020–21, Kerr wins it for the second time in a row.
"Erling Haaland and Sam Kerr, the two winners, are two exceptional winners. John Cross, chairman of the FWA, said it was richly merited.
"Erling Haaland broke all previous records. There isn't a more convincing and deserving winner, in my opinion.
"There was a significant turnout of voters, and he received 82 percent of them. Although Bukayo Saka came in second, Haaland was clearly miles ahead.
"His recent accomplishments and aspirations have elevated him to a whole new level.
"Haaland has been sensational, breaking Clive Allen's Spurs record of 49 goals in all competitions in the 1986–1987 season. He has completely stunned everyone, albeit Man City are still vying for their treble, of course.
"What a year it has been for both him and City."
With 35 goals in 32 games, Haaland has already broken the record for the most goals in a Premier League season.
