The defensive midfielder for Enyimba International FC, Gozie Umeh, expressed that the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions are targeting at least a top-three finish along with a continental ticket.
While speaking to reporters in Aba on Saturday, Umeh mentioned that the club has six matches left to showcase their capabilities.
He emphasized the importance of their upcoming match against Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on Sunday, describing it as a must-win encounter.
Umeh revealed the club’s determination to continue striving for a continental spot.
He stated, “I understand it won’t be an easy match, but we are committed to securing the maximum points on Sunday. With six games remaining and 18 points at stake, we are hopeful of going the distance, taking one game at a time. It’s crucial for us to perform well against Sunshine Stars, and with a favorable outcome, I believe we can achieve our goal of securing a continental ticket.”
He expressed that his team possesses the hunger, determination, and mindset to conclude the season on a high note. He noted that the recent 2-1 victory over Abia Warriors has revitalized the club’s campaign and instilled confidence in the squad as they approach the final phase of the season.
“I commend NPFL for broadcasting the derby against Abia Warriors live; it will help promote the league. I hope we can have more of our matches aired on television since it benefits Nigerian football,” concluded Umeh.
