Sen. Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, has received congratulations from French President Emmanuel Macron for winning the election on February 25.
After handing President Buhari his Certificate of Return in his rural home in Daura, Katsina State, on March 1st, the President-elect verified this to reporters.
Recall that before travelling to Daura with Sen. Kashim Shettima, his vice president-elect, Tinubu had obtained the Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja earlier on Wednesday.
When asked about the letters of congratulations he had so far received following INEC's announcement of his election as president-elect, Tinubu responded:
”Oh very many, many of that, in fact as far as Europe, the stock market reacted positively well, there was a goodwill message from Macron, the President of France.”
On his mission to Daura, the president-elect said
”I came to present the certificate of return to him (Buhari) as the party leader and commend his efforts in supporting democracy in Africa.''
