Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), announced a crackdown on "engagement farming" on the social media platform.
Engagement farming refers to practices aimed at artificially inflating metrics like likes, retweets, and follower counts.
These tactics often involve posting generic or controversial content to provoke reactions, rather than offering genuine discussion or information.
Musk in the tweet posted on his official handle today, declared a zero-tolerance policy for engagement farming.
"Any accounts doing engagement farming will be suspended and traced to the source," the tweet reads.
Elon Musk's crackdown on engagement farming follows the billionaire's previous announcement on bot crackdown.
RocketParrot reported that Elon Musk will begin charging new X users $1 before posting on the social media platform to combat bot.
According to him, users can now bypass CAPTCHA; which was previously used to detect bot activity on the platform.
While the specific methods X will employ to combat environmental farming are not specified, Musk has made clear his intention to address issues like spam bots and fake accounts plaguing X.
