The Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission is set to screen the local government candidates ahead of the September 2024 election in the state.
The Sokoto State All Progressives Congress has, however, expressed readiness to participate in the local government elections scheduled for September this year.
The body submitted the list of the 23 chairmanship and 244 councillorship candidates to the SIEC.
The Chairman of the party, Sadiq Acida, who said this added, “The APC conducted its primaries in the presence of the state electoral commission and the security agencies.
“We are fully ready for the election from the ward to the local government levels.”
Receiving the list, the chairman of the electoral commission, Alhaji Aliyu Sulaiman, said the electoral body would screen all candidates nominated by the parties beginning from August 7.
He assured the political parties that the electoral body would ensure qualified candidates are presented for the election.
