Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's inauguration speech on Monday, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, has warned marketers and filling stations in the state against stockpiling petroleum supplies.
The Governor advised the marketers to hold off on taking any moves that would put the public in difficulty until they received more instructions on how to carry out the Federal Government's planned elimination of subsidies.
Oyebanji called the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) leadership to a meeting in his office by 4 o'clock today in order to accomplish this.
Any gas station or marketer seen stockpiling petroleum stocks or complicit in the arbitrary increase in the price of petroleum products in the state would face harsh punishment, the governor claims.
He pleaded with the people of the state to live peacefully and stay clear of any tense situations.
