Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has officially announced a three-day mourning period in honor of the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who passed away on December 27th. The declaration comes as a mark of respect for the departed leader, who held key positions as the Chairman of both the Southern Governors Forum and the South West Governors Forum.
Governor Oyebanji's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, issued a statement on Friday conveying the official declaration of the three-day state mourning. As part of the mourning observance, all flags at public buildings throughout Ekiti State will be flown at half-mast. The mourning period began on Friday and will continue for the designated three days.
Governor Oyebanji, extending his condolences to the Government and people of Ondo State, further demonstrated his respect for the late Akeredolu by visiting the family of the deceased governor at their residence in Ibadan on Friday. The condolence visit aimed to offer support and solidarity to the grieving family during this challenging time.
It is to note that many people have shown condolences and expressed their grievances over the death of the Late Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. Some have resigned their jobs, taking pledges to give him a memorable burial and this move by Ekiti state governor is another of such expressions.
