ABUJA, Nigeria (NAN) - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended four Chinese nationals alongside 27 others in connection with unlawful mining activities in Jos.
This information was disclosed in a statement by the commission's spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Oyewale stated that the suspects were taken into custody on Saturday at the site of Jiasheng Nigeria Limited, situated at Dura Rayfield, Mangu Road, Jos.
He mentioned that the arrests were prompted by credible intelligence linking the company to illegal mining operations in the region.
Among those apprehended are four Chinese and 27 Nigerians, including suppliers found with unprocessed solid minerals believed to be illegally extracted.
Additionally, some evidence was recovered at the location, which includes a truck containing eight bags of processed Monazite, weighing 1000kg each and valued at N4 million.
He indicated that the suspects would be prosecuted once the investigations are completed.
