In a bid to uphold the administration's commitment to transparency, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has placed a suspension on the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie, along with the Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani, due to accusations of financial mismanagement.
The government stated that these suspensions are indefinite to facilitate thorough investigations into the allegations.
A statement released on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, highlighted that the suspensions arose from serious claims of official and financial misconduct.
“As a result, the Governor has mandated the formation of an Investigative Committee tasked with probing the allegations against them and providing relevant recommendations," the statement read.
“The suspensions of Damian Lawani and the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice were deemed necessary to enable the Government to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations of financial misconduct against them.
They will remain suspended until the investigation is completed,” the SSG emphasized, adding that “the suspension takes effect immediately.”
