LAGOS, Nigeria—In a bid to mitigate the risks during the dry season, the Lagos State Safety Commission has advised residents to adopt preventive measures and prioritize safety.
The Director General of the Commission, Lanre Mojola underscored the need for the safety and well-being of Lagosians during the period.
Speaking with journalists at the weekend, he said, “Once there is life, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We can only hope for the best when it comes to the safeguarding of lives.”
The Director General who warned about the prevailing weather conditions highlighted health challenges such as dehydration, blurred vision, tiredness, and high fever as the illness charactersised by the weather.
He advised Lagosians to take necessary precautions to avoid these risks.
Mojola also raised concerns about the increased likelihood of fire incidents during the dry season, urging residents to avoid practices that could endanger lives.
He said, “Do not smoke in public places or store flammable substances such as fuel at home, stalls, or shops."
He appealed to the public to work with the government to maintain safety across homes, workplaces, and the community at large.
