The Delta State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed six nominees of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.
Those screened and confirmed were the immediate-past Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Sunday Tataobuozogwu; immediate-past member representing Udu State Constituency at the Assembly, Peter Uviejitobir; Val Arenyenka; Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod; Ebikeme Clark and Mr Smart Ijeoma Ufoh.
Mr Okocha Benjamin, who reportedly declined the appointment, was substituted with Mr Ufoh, with his nomination announced at the plenary.
Ufoh’s nomination was contained in a letter addressed to the House by the governor, and read by the Speaker, Hon Emomotimi Guwor.
Following the confirmation, the House commenced a five-week recess in the second session of the 8th Assembly.
“The long recess is to enable the lawmakers to fraternise with their constituents, as well as strategies for the overall development of the House,” Guwor said.
