ABUJA, Nigeria (NAN) - The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has urged members of the Nigerian Army to continue their vigorous efforts against bandits and terrorists in the North-West to eliminate insecurity from the country.

Badaru delivered this message while addressing troops at Dukku Barracks in Birnin Kebbi during his ongoing operational visit to the region.

A statement from his media assistant, Mati Ali, on Saturday in Abuja, relayed the minister's remarks.

He expressed President Bola Tinubu's heartfelt appreciation to the troops for their tireless dedication and success in fostering peace nationwide.

The minister praised the soldiers for their professionalism, bravery, and the sacrifices they have made in combating banditry and various crimes.

“The president and the nation are extremely grateful for your steadfast commitment. I encourage you to heighten your efforts in eliminating all forms of insecurity in the country. It is time to eradicate all aspects of insecurity,” he emphasized.

Badaru was pleased to hear that the troops assured him of their readiness to fulfill the mission.

He noted that their coordinated response had bolstered his confidence in their capability to restore peace and security, permitting citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear.

The minister reaffirmed the government's dedication to supporting the armed forces, focusing on their welfare and providing adequate resources to ensure they are fully equipped to perform their roles.

He mentioned that the purpose of his visit was to evaluate the progress of ongoing operations in the area and to uplift the morale of the committed soldiers actively engaged in combating insecurity, especially in the region.
