OYO, Nigeria - The newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, Abimbola Owoade, has revealed his official title as he gets ready for his coronation by the Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde.
A press release issued on Monday, March 17, and sighted by Rocketparrot News stated that Oba Owoade is to be referred to as His Imperial Majesty, Owoade I.
The statement indicated: “This is to inform the general public about the proper way to address the Alaafin for all events and in the media, as follows:
HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY,
IKU BABA YEYE,
OBA ABIMBOLA AKEEM OWOADE I
ALAAFIN OF OYO.
Rocketparrot report that the numeral following OWOADE is the Roman numeral One (I), not the English numeral One (1).
“The public is requested to strictly follow the phrasing as precisely stated above and refrain from adding any prefixes or suffixes to the names as mentioned,” the statement concluded.
